Grammy Award winning drummer Shawn McWilliams is one of the most talented and versatile drummers out there today! His finesse for playing drums has allowed him to play with some of the heaviest of rockers with his tight, in-the-pocket hard driving beat. Then transform into a soft laid back groove or his one of a kind hypnotic train beat. His remarkable ability allows him to play with anyone and he does. The many artists he has played/recorded with are Hank Williams III, Jars of Clay, DC Talk, Billy Gibbons, Scott Miller, Dave Grissom, Johnny Highland and many more.

Growing up in a small town in Southeast Missouri, Shawn from an extremely young age was beating on anything that could make a great rhythmic sound. His parents soon recognized the special gift he had for playing drums and bought his first drum set at age 10. Shawn started teaching himself to play while listening to heavy metal acts such as Led Zeppelin, Kiss and Rush. By age 14, Shawn was already touring in a band. Being a son of a music teacher and a football coach; Shawn made both of his parents proud by knocking it out in all his high school football games. He was the starting running back and line backer and at half time Shawn would do a quick change and rock out with the marching band!

After graduating high school, Shawn went to study percussion at Southeast Missouri University but soon got his first gig offer in Nashville, so off he went. Since arriving in Nashville Shawn has made quite a name for himself by performing and recording with some of Nashville’s best artists! You can hear him on the Grammy Award winning album, “Eleventh Hour” with Jars of Clay. DC Talk “Jesus Freak” which sold over 3 million copies worldwide. Most recently Shawn played on Hank III’s “Rebel Within” which debuted #4 on the Country Charts & #20 on the Pop Charts. Plus, “Damn Right & Rebel Proud” debuted #2 on the Country Charts & #18 on the Pop Charts. In addition, Shawn has been seen on many top television shows such as: The Conan O’Brien Show, Blue Collar TV, Fuel TV and CMT’s 330 sessions. Not to mention he is all over YouTube.

Shawn is currently touring with Hank III and the Damn Band and Scott Miller and the Commonwealth; touring all of the United States and Europe.

Outside of music, Shawn is loyal husband & father. He has been married to Tich McWilliams since 2003. They welcomed their first child to the world, Mary, in 2006. He also has a son, Matthew from a previous marriage. Matthew is 18 yrs old. Shawn has an amazing ability to touch the people around him, with his enthusiasm for music, life, his creativity & his drive.
